The preconnected cross-lay has ruined the firefighters' ability to see beyond 200 feet. This course examines the fundamental concepts and techniques of the lost art of estimating a hoseline stretch. The instructor will cover real world examples of LODD's and close calls where a poor hose stretch was a contributing factor. Methods developed through experience and distance estimation techniques from the US Marine Corps will help prevent the danger of too much or too little hose.
